Went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the age of 91. Laura was born October 3, 1933 in South Gibson, Pa, daughter of the late Freeman and Minnie Loveless Oakley. She was also pre-deceased by her husband, Walter Braisted; three siblings, Lorraine Oakley, Phillip Oakley and Clifton Oakley.
Laura was blessed with 67 years of marriage to her loving and devoted husband, Walter. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Braisted; sisters, Joan Moyer and Phyllis Court and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She completed High School at Allentown Bible Institute and was a regular attendee at The Church of the Nazarene. Later, she joined the Horseheads Community Wesleyan Church in Horseheads. She had a deep love for teaching children in Children's Ministries. After retiring as an office clerk from Ulster County BOCES, she enjoyed researching her family history and traveling with her husband in their motorhome, visiting lighthouses along the way.
The family will welcome relatives and friends to Maple Grove Cemetery, Horseheads, NY where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 11AM with Pastor Elwyn Patrick officiating.
