Rochester: May 26, 2023 at the age of 33. Predeceased by her sister, Sara Ferrarone and most recently her grandfather, Henry Ferrarone as well as many other loved ones who have welcomed her home. She is survived by her loving parents, Bob and Margaret Ferrarone; brother John Ferrarone (Maya Klauber); grandmother, Marianne Pittinaro; grandfather, Dave Kemp; aunts, Linda Harris (Gordon), Christi Bravo (Paul), Nancy Ferrarone, Cindy Vadney (Scott), and Lynne Burke (Kevin); uncles, Tom Ferrarone (Carol), David Ferrarone (Carol); many loving cousins, devoted lifetime friends, and irreplaceable caregivers and aides, as well as her dog, Emma who never left her side.
Laura lived heroically in the face of a severe form of Friedreich's Ataxia (FA), just as her older sister Sara had done before passing away from the same condition in 2012 at the age of 26. Losing Sara and coping with the challenges of FA made life progressively more difficult for Laura, but still she was full of life and loved living it. Her strength of spirit, her adventurous nature, her amazing sense of humor, and her deep love for family and friends are just a few of the attributes for which she will be remembered. She would do anything for the people she loved. A small tattoo on her forearm read, "Roll with it", and this wasn't just a nod to the wheelchair she came to rely on since childhood. It summed up her inspiring attitude toward life's challenges.
Laura loved to travel and she spent the last year of her life touring the US with her parents in a motorhome. Her main agenda was to see friends wherever they lived. She loved people; never wanting to be away from those she loved. Laura also adored children and was especially drawn to the needs of the medically frail.
Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the care she received over these many years by her pediatrician and family friend, Dr. Mary Beth Robinson, and devoted FA researcher and neurologist, Dr. David Lynch of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Laura is so deeply deserving of rest from her struggles and peace and joy with her sister. Please join the family for her Memorial Service on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, 10:30 AM at Edgewood Church, 111 E. Jefferson Rd, Pittsford NY 14534. Finally, Laura's wish was that we honor her memory with donations to Daystar for Medically Fragile Children, 700 Lac De Ville Blvd, Rochester NY 14618.
