Laura Sills Galloway, 81, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025. She was born in Gaston County and was the daughter of the late John and Bertie Torrance Sills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Russell O'Neal; and her siblings, Don Sills, Virginia Sills Johnson, Barbara Sills Myers, and Helen Sills Day.
Laura retired from Firestone Mill after more than 30 years. Over the years, she attended both Chapel Grove Baptist Church and Yorkwood Church of God. Laura loved cookouts with her family, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her five grandsons.
She is survived by her children, Danny O'Neal (Cheri) and Jeff O'Neal (Debbie); her grandchildren, Phillip O'Neal, Johnathan O'Neal, Wesley O'Neal, and Devin O'Neal; her sister, Betty Sills Oates; and a number of nieces and nephews.
While our hearts are saddened by her absence here, we also rejoice that Laura is now at peace with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Services for Ms. Galloway will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Care by visiting www.campcare.org. Condolence messages may be sent to the family by visiting www.woodlawnfuneral.org. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is caring for Ms. Galloway's family.
