Leslie Everette "Les" Taylor, 88, passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Howard D. Taylor and Juanita Oxindine Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Weslie Taylor; and a number of other siblings.
Mr. Les Taylor was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served his country with honor and dedication. He was a devoted and active member of the Eastern Star, where he built lifelong friendships, and poured his heart into service. Les had a love for sports that ran deep - cheering faithfully for NC State and Duke basketball and always rooting for Clemson football. His passion for the outdoors was just as strong. He was an outstanding bird hunter and avid fisherman who found both joy and peace in nature.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Barbara Allen Taylor; his children, Craig Taylor (Kim) and Dana Furr (Scott); his 'bonus' children, DeLee Jones (Roy) and Chris Osborn (Alicia); his grandchildren, Owen, Lauren, Aaron, Taylor, and Carson; his 'bonus' grandchildren, Connor (Alexandra), Caleb (Monica), and Chandler (Summer); his sister, Patsy Griffith (Bert); and a number of other special nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Taylor will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at East Belmont Church of God. Rev. Danny Peterson and Rev. Ken Jones will officiate. The family will receive guests at the church from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.
