Lauren Renea Fancher, age 22, passed away on November 1st, 2025 in Louisville, KY. Lauren lived in Indianapolis while attending IU Indianapolis in pursuit of a pre-medical undergraduate degree. Lauren was born on November 13th, 2002 and lived in Georgetown, IN, until graduating from Floyd Central High School in 2021.
It is with broken hearts that Lauren's family and friends accept a world absent our beautiful and sweet Lauren. Lauren was a beautiful person, both outward and inside, as exemplified by her smile and kindness toward others. She not only gave her all to each and every endeavor, but also to every relationship and to anyone who she could support in any way. She was happiest when she was volunteering or helping others achieve their dreams. She saw beauty and found inspiration in the smallest act of kindness, a blossoming flower, or the glow of a sunset.
Lauren was very passionate about helping others, while at the same time very competitive, with high expectations of herself. This is evident by her many accomplishments in support of heartfelt causes, as well as her academic and athletic achievements. Lauren supported many great causes, including: Riley Hospital for Children through Floyd Central Dance Marathons and IU Indianapolis Jagathon, where she served as an executive board member; American Lung Association (developed a program for asthma awareness), Herman B. Wells Center for Pediatric Research, and Hope for Harper. A few of her academic achievements include: IU Indianapolis Bepko Scholarship recipient, IU Indianapolis Top 100 Students, as well as being named as one of the Top 10 Seniors at IU Indianapolis. Finally, Lauren earned her Girl Scout Gold Award and was both an accomplished gymnast and tennis player. She played tennis throughout high school career and was team captain during her senior year.
Lauren is survived by her sister, Katherine, her mother Tammy Fancher (Holzbacher), her father Hershel (Ed) Fancher, her grandmothers Bonnie Holzbacher and Elna Hill, her grandfather, Don Schultz, and many beloved aunts and cousins.
