Laurence William McEneaney Jr. was born in Los Angeles on November 18, 1942 and died in Truckee the town he loved on January 21, 2018. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone.
Larry grew up in San Fernando Valley with his brother Patrick and sister Gail, and went to Notre Dame & Poly Technic high schools. He and his childhood best friends were members of the Causals Car Club. He worked for Lockheed as a blueprint machinist creating theoretical wings. For over 40 years he owned his own business as a Dental Technician in Truckee.
If you knew Larry, you knew that he hustled pool and bowling when he was young. He bled Dodger blue, he loved Jazz, Journey and the Bee Gees. He was an avid reader and master crossword puzzler. Larry loved golf and played as a single just to meet new people. He was never happier than reading to his future Forbes Top 50 list grandchildren Adeline and Henry. There wasn't a free meal that he turned down, even if he had to cook for the whole event. His sense of humor ran the gamut from Richard Pryor to Inspector Clouseau. His favorite place was at home with his family, a book, a glass of red wine, with the Dodgers on the TV.
He was a committed community member coaching Buddy Warner Ski Team, Little League baseball, and mentoring students. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Optimists' and Lions' and was a Founding member of Sunrise Rotary. He was a Truckee high school booster and member of the football chain gang.
He is survived by his wife Cathie, his two boys Kevin and Brian, and his wife Eve and their two kids Adeline and Henry McEneaney.
The McEneaneys' invite friends and those who loved Larry to join them for an Irish Wake at the Old Parks Rec Building on Church Street in Truckee on Feb 10 from 2pm-5pm.
