Laurette McNeil, quietly entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 9, 2025. Laurette was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on November 22, 1934. She lived a life marked by kindness, humility, and devotion to her family and faith.
Laurette was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harrison McNeil; her cherished daughter, Donna Atkinson; her dear granddaughter, Sheena Laurette Boyd; as well as her two sisters and two brothers. Their memories live on in all those who loved her.
To all who knew Laurette, she was the embodiment of laughter and compassion. Her joy was most evident in the company of loved ones, and she embraced each day with a nurturing spirit. Laurette was always ready to help anyone in need, never turning away a friend or neighbor seeking comfort. Her natural caregiving extended into every corner of her life, whether she was cooking up her favorite dishes, tending to her garden, sewing for those she loved, or singing hymns-especially her favorite, "Oh Holy Night."
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Laurette was a dedicated member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Stamford, CT, where she found community, solace, and meaning for many years.
Laurette leaves behind a loving legacy in her surviving family:
• Her devoted daughter: Linda M. Boyd
• Her beloved grandchildren: Jarrell, Jamar, Doryon "Lucy", Danyelle "Dank", and Tamara (Floid, Sr.)
• Her treasured great-grandchildren: Elijah, Conri "CJ", Josiyah, JahAir "Buddah", Kendrick, Keyon, Faith, Floid "FJ", C'Brina, Amari, Cameron, Isabella
• Her precious great-great-grandchildren: Elijah Jr. and Kaiden
Laurette's gentle touch, infectious laughter, and unwavering faith will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her. Her family and friends will continue to honor a life so beautifully lived and to ensure her memory lives on in our hearts.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM followed by a service of celebration at 11:00AM.
Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Darien, CT
May Laurette rest in eternal peace.
