Laurie Ann Foster, age 67, departed this life on 11/3/2025 in Tuttle, OK. Laurie was born 9/'20/1958 in Muskogee, OK to Donna Sue Lacy and David Tate. She graduated from Mangum High School in 1976 and the University of Central Oklahoma (then Central State). She married Steven Carl Foster in 1980, and they went on to have three children: Tishina, Sierra, and Michael.
Laurie was the kindest and most loving person. She always had a quick joke and a kind word for her many friends and family.
Many childrens' lives are better because of Laurie. As a child welfare social worker in Canadian County, she was a beacon of hope for the abused and the neglected. She won many awards for her work and was beloved by her coworkers and the families she helped during their most difficult time. After her time at DHS, she moved into a career in corrections. As a case manager, she worked to encourage those who were incarcerated. The theme of her life was helping others to better their lives.
Besides her career as a social worker and case manager, Laurie loved being a show mom. During her daughters' childhoods, she could be found in the barn helping clean and decorate for the county and state fairs. She was also a volunteer for the 4-H program. She helped numerous youth in Canadian and Muskogee County. No matter where she was or what career she had at the time, Laurie loved helping others and bringing them joy.
The last year and a half of her life were Laurie's greatest adventure! She was able to travel the United States with her daughter Sierra, son-in-law Clayton, and grandson Falcon; seeing many of our nation's most wonderful sites and visiting places she had never been while sharing it all with people she loved.
Laurie is preceded in death by her husband, Steve. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Robert, her children, Tishina, Sierra, and Michael, and her 6 grandchildren, Falcon, Jameson, Atticus, Brantley, Stormy, and Remington. Raised in a large family, Laurie also has numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins that she dearly loved.
There will be no formal service. Please allow the family time to grieve. In place of flowers, please send any donations to the Canadian County CASA program (https://canadiancountycasa.org/donate.html) or the Canadian County 4-H program (http://oces.okstate.edu/canadian).
