Martha Jo Krivanek, age 85, passed from this life on the morning of October 4, 2025, at her cherished Colorado Cabin, her happy place. She was born July 12, 1940, in Oklahoma City, OK to Woodie C. and Geneva J. (Earnest) Acree. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Krivanek of nearly 53 years, her parents and one brother, Tom Acree.
She is survived by her three children: Judy Roof, Mark Krivanek & Wife Heidi, Mona VanDeWeghe & Husband Tom; Betty Cernosek, aunt-in-law; JoAnn Boyce, sister-in-law; five grandchildren: Cameo Hoyle, Thomas VanDeWeghe, Savannah Krivanek & Husband Kevin, Lillian VanDeWeghe and Abigail Krivanek & Fiancé Juan Doyle; and her two brothers: Mike Acree and John Acree and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Martha graduated from Birdville High School, Ft. Worth, TX and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Oklahoma City, OK. She was a dedicated and compassionate board-certified RN with extensive experience as a surgical nurse. She was an assisting RN during the first cardiopulmonary bypass surgery by Dr. Nazih Zuhdi in 1959 at Mercy Hospital. Later, she excelled in medical review and rehabilitation at Aetna, became a Certified Medical Case Manager, and concluded her career as Regional Manager for Concentra. Her commitment to the nursing profession was evident through her active involvement in the Oklahoma State Nurse Association and the Oklahoma State Certified Case Managers, where she served as president-elect, president, and past president advisor from 2000 to 2004.
Those who knew her best will always remember her warm hugs, her unwavering devotion to her family, her joyful smile, her love for the outdoors-especially the mountains and the ocean-her competitive spirit in ballroom dancing, her passion for collecting rocks, and her fondness for bears. You could find Martha most frequently outside on the patio just enjoying the air and 'the sun on her face'.
She was a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader from 1971 to 1980 at Council Grove Elementary. In 1990, she became a member of the Oklahoma Prairies Daughters of the American Revolution and later served as Chapter Vice Regent and Regent. Her dedication to community service extended to her role on the Board of Directors for Adult Day Care from 1992 to 2000.
Martha, a methodist, attended St. Luke's Methodist Church TV Broadcast most recently, but also attended Mustang Methodist Church, and St. Mark's in Bethany in prior years with her family.
Her love for ballroom dancing began in 2000, and she competed with her husband, Raymond, as an amateur couple for two years. She continued to dance and compete in American Rhythm and American Smooth – International Standard for 20 years, showcasing her passion and talent on the dance floor and building deep and lasting friendships that kept her strong and uplifted in her later years.
Martha moved to Spanish Cove Retirement Village in Yukon, OK and was deeply appreciative of the friends she made and the care she received in recent years.
Martha was not just a part of our lives; she was the heart of our family. Her love filled our home with joy, and her kindness touched everyone she met. Whether she was dancing gracefully across the ballroom floor or exploring the rugged beauty of the mountains, she lived life with a passion that was truly remarkable. Her collection of rocks was more than a hobby; it was a testament to her curiosity and love for the natural world. And her bears, each one carefully chosen, reflected her gentle and nurturing spirit.
Her legacy is one of love, strength, and unwavering dedication. She taught us the importance of family, the beauty of nature, and the joy of living life to the fullest. We will carry her memory with us always, finding comfort in the knowledge that she is forever a part of us.
Memorial Services will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 21, 2025, at McNeil's Funeral Service, Mustang, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
