Lavara Moline Harwell, 95, of Savannah, Tennessee, passed away peacefully, August 24, 2025. Born to loving parents, Audrey and Bonnie Hutton, October 11, 1929 in Enville, Tennessee, Moline lived a long remarkable life filled with faith, compassion, and devotion to her family and community.
Moline is survived by her devoted grandson, Wesley Harwell, of Collierville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kendrith Ray Harwell, whom she married August 28, 1948. Together they cherished their long marriage and were blessed with a son, Rickey Dwight, born December 26, 1949. A loving son, Rickey, preceded her in death in 2016. Moline's dear sister, Jane Carroll, also preceded her in death.
A cornerstone of her community, Moline dedicated over 70 years of her life to the New Life United Pentecostal Church, where she led the Ladies Auxiliary and helped to organize countless events, inspired generations with her devotion and delighted all with her renowned soups, casseroles, fried chicken, potato salad, and chocolate pies. She selflessly shared her recipes and was always among the first to arrive with a special meal when someone was in need. Her outgoing, welcoming nature, and compassionate heart touched all who met her. In February 2019, Moline was honored in a special ceremony at her church, a testament to her legacy of faith and service.
A consummate homemaker, Moline took pride in her home and garden, cultivating bountiful flowers and vegetables. She loved her cherished pets who became family members to her. In her later years, she relished traveling across the United States delighting in the majesty of the National Parks-what she lovingly called, "God's handiwork." Among her fondest memories included a meaningful trip to Israel, which she loved to recount to friends and family.
Moline's legacy is one of kindness, devotion, and generosity. She touched countless lives through her selfless acts, unwavering faith, and joyful presence. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her. Shackelford Funeral Home of Savannah, Tennessee will be in charge of her services.
