Lavawn Radder passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 19th, 2023 at the age of 93.
She was born Lila Rose on October 24, 1930 in Lusk Wyoming to Oscar & Ruby Bostrom. At the age of 5 she became Lavawn Cleo Mildred when was adopted by Homer & Glo Smith and moved to Lynden, WA in 1937 where she lived and attended school.
She married Mick Radder on June 8, 1948 and was married for 56 years before his passing on April 27, 2004. She was a mom to 8 children; Linda (Bill) Davis, Lorna (Jim) Ackerman, Marilyn (Marcus) Burton, Ed, Virginia (Tod) Arnason, Wayne, Helen (Ed), Sue (Tony) Skorjanc. She has 16 Grandchildren, 26 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren. She was a mother figure to numerous other children who also called her mom. She is survived by a sister-in-law Shirley Radder, brother-in-law Bob Radder and multiple nieces and nephews.
She was very proud to get to remain on the Clearbrook Rd for over 70 years up until the time of her passing. She wanted to be in any car that was heading out on an adventure, being by the water, outside enjoying her flowers and the hummingbirds.
We would like to acknowledge the kindness and care that mom received from the Sumas Fire Dept and the medical staff at St. Joseph Hospital. Mom you will always be loved, never forgotten and forever missed.
Visitation will be at Gillies Funeral Home on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 9 am to 12:15 pm followed by her graveside service at Nooksack Cemetery beginning at 1 pm. There will be refreshments at Glen Echo Community Center 7694 Goodwin Rd, Everson following the service.
