LaVera "Vera" Arp

LaVera "Vera" Arp, 103, of Traer, IA passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, at her residence. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook, IA. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. Interment will follow services at Maple Hill Cemetery in rural Gladbrook. LaVera Ruby was born July 30, 1921, to Hannis & Bertha (Luethje) Landt. Vera received her education in Spring Creek #8 School for 8 years.
She was united in marriage in 1945 to Paul Arp. They had 3 children; Paulette, Joette & Mike, who were raised on the family farm near Dinsdale. Paul & Vera became members of the Peace Church in 1955. Vera was a faithful member of the Women's Guild, Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She was also a 50+ year member of the Amvets Auxiliary.
Vera loved life on the farm, she loved taking care of animals, but most she loved her family who she taught many life skills to including faith and hard work. She enjoyed teaching her kids and grandkids to play cards and to drive on the farm.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, one sister, one daughter, and two sons in law.
Vera is survived by her daughter, Joette Dieleman; son, Mike Arp; one grandson, four granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren, and one son-in-law.
