LaVerne Keys, age 79, of Cumming, peacefully entered into heaven on Friday, October 17, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born in Forsyth County to Almond and Ida Smith Manders, LaVerne lived a life rooted in faith, family, and kindness. She was a devoted Christian whose love for the Lord was evident in everything she did. Her heart was full of grace, and her gentle spirit touched everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.
LaVerne was a cherished member of Grace and Truth Revival Center in Dawsonville, where she worshipped faithfully and served with joy. Her faith was not just something she believed—it was how she lived. She prayed earnestly, loved deeply, and trusted God through every season of life.
She found joy in the simple pleasures, sewing, tending to her flowers, and solving word search puzzles. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her home was a place of laughter, love, and loyalty always filled with the presence of the Lord.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Keys; her daughter, Sherry Adams Keys; her parents, Almond and Ida Manders; and two brothers.
LaVerne leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion through her son, Joel and Rita Keys; grandchildren Amanda Ives, Tonya and Shawn Shurie, Felicia Giddens, Brittany and Kwon Rouse, and Jacob Keys; and great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Elliot, Emerson, Madison, AJ, Brynlee, Blaze, and Ezra. She is also survived by nine siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family who will continue to honor her memory.
