Lavon Hulland, a cherished husband, father, and pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In death, he is reunited with his two children: Deborah Hulland and Lavon Thomas Hulland.
Lavon is survived by his wife Barbara Hulland; son Jeremiah Hulland; daughters: Janel Garcia, Lexi Scott, granddaughter Sarai Lopez, great-granddaughter Elisa Lopez. Lavon is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other family members who deeply loved him.
Born on September 6, 1941, in Moffett, Oklahoma, Lavon and his family relocated to Albuquerque in his early youth, where he would remain and eventually start his own beautiful family. After completing high school and an associate's degree from TVI, he enlisted in the US Army. In the forces, Lavon was a Private E-1, he won a good conduct medal, and was an expert marksman and sharpshooter. Lavon’s main military occupation was that of a tank mechanic; however, when he was honorably discharged from the Army he applied his skills to his business life. Lavon was a successful business owner of an HVAC company, a testament to his intelligence and entrepreneurial spirit.
In his personal life, Lavon’s greatest success was his enduring 62 years of marriage, a union that stood as a testament to his dedication and love. He was a true companion to his spouse, celebrating nearly 63 years of shared dreams and accomplishments. He acted not only as a devoted father to his two biological children but also to his many adopted children, whom he cared for with the same unwavering love and support.
Lavon was also well known for his musical talents. He was a skilled drummer and singer in various bands over the years. He passed along his love of music to his children, who all have fond memories of him singing and playing for them and large crowds.
As we say goodbye to Lavon Hulland, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, music, and meaningful connections. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the melodies that continue to echo in the spaces he once filled with his presence.
