LaVonne Lornette (Irons) Butler, 86, of Bagley, Minnesota passed away in the home of her daughter, Melanie Grabill, under the care of Melanie and daughter Kim Butler, on Sunday, May 14, 2023 in Bagley, MN.
Services were held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal, Minnesota with a visitation one hour prior. Interment was held at Salem Lutheran East Cemetery in Hitterdal, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted the family with arrangements.
LaVonne was born on March 5, 1937 to Merle and Ida (Bestul) Irons in Bagley, Minnesota. She was raised in Deer Creek, MN along with her two sisters.
LaVonne met the love of her life, Alton Butler and were married in Sisseton, SD on June 11, 1954. They were together for 63 years. They farmed near Felton, MN and then moved to Hitterdal, MN where they farmed for 45 years.
Alton and LaVonne raised a family of four children. LaVonne was very active in Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal, where she was involved in Circle, Ladies Aid, and taught Sunday School. LaVonne was a great cook, enjoyed baking, and was an avid reader. She canned produce from their garden and tended the flowerbed and enjoyed lawn mowing. She and Alton enjoyed many years at their home on Cotton Lake and hosting family, friends, and their many grandchildren.
LaVonne is survived by her son, Alan (Patricia) Butler of Rochert, MN; her wonderful daughters, Melanie (Scott) Grabill of Bagley, MN, Kimberly Butler of Bagley, MN, and Jane Butler Hoaglund of Fargo, ND; her twelve grandchildren, Shane, Jeremy, Aaron, Leah, Tarah, Alexander, Camille, Kari, Brandon, Pamela, ParkerJay, and Corbet; and her five great grandchildren.
LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Ida Irons; her husband, Alton Butler; her son, Brian Ross Butler; her sisters, Janice Dovenmuehler and Carol Scanlon; and her son-in-law, Scott Grabill.
