Our beloved mother and grandmother, Lavora Newbold Christopherson, died on October 16th, 2025, at home in Wendell, Idaho, surrounded by family. She was 97 years old.
Levora was born on September 18, 1928, in Downey, Idaho, to Harold M. Newbold Sr. and Louise Wakley Bloxham. She was the fifth child of 10. She attended school in Downey, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1946, she married William (Bill) Reynolds, and together they had four children: MaryLouise, William (Butch), Sandra, and LavoraJean. They divorced in early 1963. Lavora then met the love of her life, Farrell Christopherson, and they were married in 1963. In this unity they had one daughter, Shawna. Lavora and Farrell were sealed in the Idaho Falls temple in May 1978. They were married for 38 years.
Lavora worked at various jobs, but waitressing was her primary job for years.
Lavora was known to be a very creative person who enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, and other crafts, which were shared with us (family and friends) for Christmas and birthdays. She was known for remembering everyone's birthday. Lavora also enjoyed gardening, reading, and puzzles, along with helping others in service. Lavora was a member and was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Lavora is survived by her baby sister Linda (Bardee) Tolman; and four daughters, Mary Louise Davenport of Hagerman, Idaho; Sandy Campbell of Boise, Idaho; Lavora Jean Green of Minot, North Dakota; and Shawna Christopherson of Everett, Washington; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren (with more on the way). She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Farrell, her son William (Butch), one grandchild and two great-grandchildren, her brothers Harold Jr., Henry, Richard, Paul, Boyd, and Doyle, and her sisters Cleo and Cheri (Kay).
A viewing will be head from 5:00 - 7:00pm Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Farnsworth Mortuary, 1343 South Lincoln Ave., Jerome. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the Wendell Cemetery, Wendell, Idaho.
Lavora will be greatly missed by all.
Lavora’s daughters and family would like to thank the Wendell First Ward members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for loving and helping care for our mother.
