Lawanna (Lu) Brothers Harrington, age 78 of Washington, IN passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Glenburn Home in Linton, IN. She was born on March 4, 1946, in Washington, IN to Joseph and Madeline (Lola) Brothers. Lu graduated from Washington Catholic High School and was married to Jack Harrington from Bicknell, IN on May 19, 1964.
During her career, Lu worked as a CNA and QMA, caring for the residents at several nursing homes in Indiana, including several local homes in Washington, IN. Lu loved being able to care for the elderly. She cared a lot about each of the residents and considered them to be a part of her family and devoted her life to give them great care.
Lu is survived by one son, Robert Harrington of Glasgow, Montana and two daughters; Betty Johnson and Mandi Schrum, both of Washington, IN; she is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Judy) Brothers of Santa Clarita, California; one sister, Patricia (Lester) Morrison of Linton, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Lu is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Michael Brothers, Newburgh, IN, Thomas Brothers, Tucson, AZ; and one sister, Jessica Carrico, Washington, IN; and one great-grandson.
A memorial service for Lu will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. Friends may visit with Lu's family from 10:00 am until the hour of the service of 11:00 am and there will be a private burial at Bicknell Memory Gardens in Bicknell, IN where Lu will rest alongside her husband.
