Major Lawrence Lee Allen, United States Air Force (Ret.), passed away in his home on December 18, 2024 at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and mentorship that has touched countless lives.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1950, Lee Allen was a graduate of Capital University. Shortly after earning his degree, he married the love of his life, Susan Elizabeth Wahl Allen, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span 52 years.
Lee Allen continued his education obtaining his Master's Degree from Texas Christian University whilst proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, rising to the rank of Major before retiring. During his service, he exemplified honor, integrity, and dedication, traits that became hallmarks of his life's work.
After retiring from the Air Force, Lee found a new calling-dedicating himself to the growth and education of children. For 26 years, he served as a beloved substitute teacher in the Weber School District, enriching the lives of students at Valley View Elementary and West Haven Elementary. He approached each day with enthusiasm, giving his time, energy, and heart to children from kindergarten through sixth grade. His love for teaching and mentoring drew him out of retirement twice, as he couldn't stay away from the classrooms and children he cherished.
Though Lee and Susan had no biological children, his heart was vast enough to embrace many. He was a father figure, mentor, and role model to countless children, embodying the virtues of kindness, strength, and selflessness.
His storytelling talent brought joy and inspiration to young minds, and his love of writing culminated in the publication of The Little White Wolf, a book co-created with his beloved wife. This story serves as a reflection of his values: finding worth in all, overcoming obstacles, and leading with character, charity, and compassion.
Lee Allen lived by the principles of faith, love of country, and service to others. He embraced those who faced challenges, offering them guidance and a model of what it means to live with integrity and purpose. His commitment to building a collaborative community of love and support has left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Above all, Lee cherished his wife, Sue, who was his greatest source of joy and strength. Their partnership was the cornerstone of his life and an example of unwavering love.
Lawrence Lee Allen is survived by his wife Susan Allen, his Heart Daughter Misti Bergold, and his Heart Grandchildren, Larry Nathan Young, Kathryn Paige Young, Hailee Mackenzie-Kay Clements, Heart Great-Grandchild Maizee Bri Clements, God Daughters Annette Harris and Kathryn Cote, Sisters Michelle Ray, Annouise Baker, Jalene Watkins, Jolene Fogle, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of children and adults whose lives he shaped, and a community that will forever be inspired by his example.
