Lawrence Joseph Chalupsky, 87, passed away in his home on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Lawrence (“Larry”) was born on September 30, 1937, to Louis and Lydia (Mikyska) Chalupsky in Beroun, Minnesota. He was the baby of his three siblings: Louis Chalupsky, Jr., Louise Chalupsky, and Lorraine Kozisek.
Lawrence graduated from Pine City High school, moved to Minneapolis with cousins and friends, and worked for Brown & Bigelow in St. Paul. After marrying Laura Grover in 1959, the couple returned to Pine City. Lawrence took work at 3M, expanded a home on Cross Lake, and started a family. Daughters Paige and Nichol were born in 1961 and 1970, respectively.
During their early years on Cross Lake, Lawrence and Laura enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home for volleyball, horseshoes, swimming, and good times. Lawrence was an avid gardener and took pride in growing a variety of flowers and plants and taking care of his lawn. He tried his hand at beekeeping for a few years and was very successful, producing big batches of fresh honey every fall.
The family eventually moved to Beroun, where Lawrence renovated an old family home, continued his outdoor hobbies, and added a new one of playing video poker at the casino in Hinckley. He spent most evenings relaxing by watching his favorite shows, working crossword puzzles, and playing cards on the computer.
Lawrence will be remembered as a hardworking and fun-loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Lawrence is survived by wife Laura Chalupsky of Beroun; daughter Nichol (Michael) Herzog of Auburn, Washington; grandson Dylan Herzog of New Haven, Connecticut; sister Lorraine "Toots" Kozisek of Pine City; sister-in-law Karen Chalupsky of Orange, California; brother-in-law Denny Grover of Finlayson; many nieces and nephews; relatives; and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Lydia Chalupsky; daughter Paige Chalupsky; sister Louise Chalupsky; brother Louis "Butch" Chalupsky Jr,; and brother-in-law Robert Kozisek.
Deacon Mark Pulkrabek will officiate funeral services for Lawrence: 11:00 AM; Saturday, February 8, 2025 at the Swanson Funeral Chapel of Pine City with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Beroun later this year.
