Lawrence Guy Cook

Lawrence Guy Cook, 86, of Branson, Missouri, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, after a courageous battle with multiple illnesses. Born in Muskegon, Michigan, on March 31, 1938, to Violet (Willea) and Kenneth Cook, Lawrence lived a life defined by service, hard work, unwavering faith, and an enduring love for his family and friends.
In 1957, Lawrence began a distinguished 22-year career in the U.S. Army, during which he honorably served his country in the Vietnam War. He retired in 1979 after a career marked by dedication and sacrifice. Following his military service, Lawrence became a cherished member of the Branson community, working for 20 years at Walmart. He formed many lifelong friendships during his time there and was fondly remembered by coworkers and customers alike.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Geneva (Ford) Cook; his parents, Violet and Kenneth Cook; his brother, Robert Cook; and his sisters, Connie and Candy Cook.
He is survived by his loving children, Glenna Wilson (Terry Wilson) and Lawrence Cook, Jr. (Michelle Cook); his grandchildren, Eric Cook, Kirsten Mease, and David Wilson; and his five great-grandchildren, who brought him so much joy. Lawrence is also survived by his brothers, Terry Cook, Kenneth Cook, Jerry Cook, and Gary Cook; his sister, Kay Manie; as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
A man strong in his faith and full of kindness, Lawrence was a friend to everyone he met. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his resilience, and the love he shared with those around him.
A service to honor his life will be held at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 27, 2025, with full military honors. A visitation will be from 9:30 am until 10:00 AM at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Leukemia Foundation in his memory.
