Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Renee DeCook, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Lawrence died peacefully on July 10, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 75 years old.
Larry was born on May 28, 1948, in South Bend, Indiana. He attended St John the Baptist and graduated from South Bend Washington High School before serving his country in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. Larry married Debra Kay Montanari on April 8, 1972, and together they raised two children, Danielle and Todd. He worked for General Telephone and Verizon for over 30 years.
Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and breakfast with his friends. He loved heading to Lake Erie to fish for walleye and his yearly trips to Minnesota to fish with his friends. Larry enjoyed watching grandchildren's sporting events. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends especially his fur pups Max, Chance, Stella and Vivian.
Larry is survived by his mother, Sophie, his wife, Debra; his children, Danielle who resides in Granger, IN and Todd in Lake Oswego, OR; his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Aubrey, Wesley, Brady, Emmett, Duncan, and Cora; son-in-law, Chad and daughter-in-law, Heather. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond DeCook (2002).
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Hahn Funeral Home, 508 W 8th Street. Church service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11 am at St Joseph Parish, 220 W. 4th Street, Mishawaka.
