Larry and I met in first grade and became good friends all the way through high school. We played the same sports, chased after the same girls, and laughed at the same jokes!
I admired him so much. His family lived a few blocks away, his father was an invalid and his mother was a custodian. Their apartment was tiny and then the cramped basement but it was full of love. Larry was the bread winner, at his age 12 he delivered 120 newspapers every morning rain or shine Seven days a week and continued the route through high school he never explained and he never complained .every day after school we would meet up with all the other boys on Warwick Road to play ball in Gross´s backyard no coaches no referees. Just kids having pick up games making the rules as we played until dusk. Larry was always captain. We broke so many windows in Gross backyard! Foul balls everywhere.
When Larry and I were on the Shaker Heights high school basketball team, we used to pick up two cheerleaders after the game he he told me he turned down scholarships with all the big boys Catholic schools - no cute girls!
I remember him returning from Michigan State University one summer driving a new Pontiac GTO complements of Michigan alumni! He was so excited a self-made man .a few years ago I held a stag party at the Cleveland Indians lounge-and invited Larry and a bunch of classmates. Everyone circled around Larry thrilled to see him and how strong and athletic he still looked. He will be missed by all that knew him. Best regards Gerald Goldstein class of 63.

Dear Diane.....and all of the Lukasik family.
Kathleen & I were devastated to learn
of Larry´s recent passing -to join GOD´s Team; and our hearts are saddened.
Please know that our condolences are with each of you , as we remember Larry in prayer.
As a Spartan `teammate´ & a dormitory ´suite mate´ (along with John Mullen & Phil Hoag) I came to appreciate Larry´s dedication, to not only sports (Larry & John started The MoLar golf outing).....but also his love of LIFE!!
Endearingly, may I offer an anonymous & hopefully comforting verse~
"Grief never ends, but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It is the price of love."
Love & God´s Blessing to Larry, and to you & your family.
