Lawrence A. Schmieder, 83, of Manchester Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. Lawrence was born on March 6, 1942, in Elizabeth, NJ to his parents Lawrence F. and Martha (nee: Brown) Schmieder. Lawrence and his wife Theresa Schmieder (nee: Sciscione) resided in Edison, NJ for 29 years while raising their family. In 1997, they moved to Ocean County, first living in Jackson and most recently, Manchester Twp. After graduating from Seton Hall Prep in 1959, he went on to Seton Hall University where he earned bachelor's degrees in math and physics and later, his master's degree. Lawrence was one of the early pioneers of the burgeoning IT and data management businesses in the 1960's and 1970's. He helped develop and sell systems to large companies such as Bell Telephone as well as universities, government entities and manufacturers. In his later years, he went on to work in commercial real estate and construction management. In his free time, Lawrence enjoyed fishing both in salt and freshwater. He often spent time yelling at the television as a fan of his beloved Yankees and Giants. He enjoyed taking long drives, playing poker with his brother-in-law and friends while also making the occasional trip down to Atlantic City. He loved to travel with his wife, Teri and brothers and sisters-in-law making trips to places like Paris, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Above all else, Lawrence loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Family always came first, and he embodied the spirit of family and love for them in everything he did. Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents Lawrence F. and Martha Schmieder and his brother Dennis Schmieder. Surviving Lawrence is his loving wife of 63 years, Theresa (Sciscione) Schmieder, his children, Larry Schmieder and his wife Tracey, Jill Myers and her husband Todd, and Lynn Bohm and her husband Matthew, his 7 beloved grandchildren, Michael and his wife Sharon, Joseph, Amanda and her partner Matthew, Jack, Eric, Megan, and Kyle and his 2 cherished great-grandchildren Benjamin and Madeline, as well as his sister in law Mary Schmieder. The Schmieder family will be eternally grateful to the countless, always patient and kind healthcare professionals that took care of him over the past two years. Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Manchester Township, NJ 08759.
