Lawrence "Larry" Vassel Washington was born in Ennis, Texas, on May 20, 1937, to Gustavy Jimson and Norman Washington. He transitioned from this life on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Beebe Hospital in Lewes, Delaware.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. W.B. Smith at Fourth Ward Missionary Baptist Church.
Soon after graduation from George Washington Carver High School, Lawrence enlisted in the United States Army. Upon his completion of service, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri, and continued his education at Washington University majoring in the field of Computer Science. Lawrence excelled in his career and worked as a Software Specialist at many Federal Agencies throughout the U.S. for more than 20 years.
After retirement, Lawrence relocated to Delaware. He and his wife, Christina, became members of Friendship Baptist Church, Lewes, Delaware.
Lawrence was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He was always there to assist in whatever way was needed.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his son, Rodney; three brothers, Percy, Norman, and Eddie Gene; and two sisters, Evlyine and Dorsey Mae.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife Christina; his son, Kirk; sisters, Gwendalyn of Los Angeles, CA and Janice Marie of Dallas, TX; two sisters-in-law, Janet Washington of Ballwin, MO, and Valerie Austin of St. Louis, MO; one stepdaughter and stepson; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
