Indiana Funeral Care - GreenwoodLawrence “Larry” Phillip Wethington, age 85, of Avon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025.
He was born on February 26, 1940, in Danville, Indiana, and lived a full life surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Jo Wethington; his sons, Lawrence Phillip Wethington, Jr. and Michael Dean Wethington; and several dear family members who went before him. Larry is survived by his children: Carl Franklin Wethington (Terri), Mark Allen Wethington (Christy), and Angela Kay Wethington. He was the proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him tremendous joy. He also leaves behind 10 siblings who shared in his life’s journey.
Larry worked many years as a forklift operator and retired from GM Truck and Bus. He was a true jack of all trades, always tinkering, repairing, and finding ways to keep things running. His passion for gardening and his beautifully manicured yard were a source of pride, and he could often be found sitting on the back porch enjoying the view, feeding the birds, and watching the squirrels play. Larry also loved bowling and spent many happy hours at the lanes, enjoying the game and the friendships it brought him. A lover of antique cars and loyal dogs, his faithful companions Rosie and Daisy will especially miss him. He was known for his quiet strength, hardworking hands, and the joy he found in simple pleasures. Larry’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish his stories, wisdom, and the love he gave so generously.
Graveside services will be held on September 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Danville South Cemetery, 515 South Cross Street, Danville, Indiana, 46122, for family and close friends.
