Michael Harrod Downard, 76, of Beech Grove, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
He was born in 1949 in Brookville, Indiana, and lived a life marked by independence and resilience. Michael proudly served in the United States Air Force before going on to build a career in commercial banking. In his final days, he was cared for by family who ensured his comfort and dignity.
Michael is survived by his three children and their spouses: Laura Renner (Matt Renner), Brian Downard (Chelsi Downard), and Katelyn Shewman (Kaleb Shewman). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Mitchell Renner, Lucas Renner, Hadley Downard, Tate Downard, and Palmer Shewman, as well as his youngest brother, Chris Downard, and sister-in-law, Carol Downard.
In honoring Michael’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private memorial will be held at a later date, where his ashes will be spread in remembrance.
The family is grateful for the support and kindness extended during this time.
