Virginia M. Schreckengast

Virginia Mae Thompson Schreckengast, 93, of Greenwood, passed away on August 27, 2025. She was born on October 8, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN to the late John Lester and Geneva Gladys (Botts) Ryan.

Virginia dedicated over 25 years to the anesthesia department at Riley Children's Hospital as a LPN.

She was a member of Mount Auburn Global Methodist Church. Virginia was a devoted woman of faith, known by many as a prayer warrior who faithfully lifted up her family, friends, and community in prayer.

Virginia is survived by her son, John E. (Deborah) Thompson; daughter in law, Kathy Thompson; grandchildren, Rebekah S. (Anthony) Franklin, Jamie (Eric) Thompson-Shawn, Vanessa (Jeremy) Schreckengast, and Paige (Ken) McGee; six great grandchildren; and brothers, John (Barb) Ryan and Wayne Ryan.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles E. Thompson, and William O. Schreckengast; son, Charles E. Thompson II; and granddaughter, Naomi M. Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 1:30 pm until the time of service at 2:30 pm at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center at The Gardens of Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN.

Virginia will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wheeler Mission, 520 E. Market Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
