Shared much time with Stew in Egypt. I remember his 50th birthday party second floor of the old MITRE building. Stew was a man I admired his intelligence and gentle mild manner. Stew loved his wife, son and family. God Bless you Stew, love you man!

Stewart was in my high school class at Lafayette Jefferson. One of my first memories of him was his powder blue English Ford which I´m sure was held together by duct tape and inspiration. Everyone knew it was Stewart when they saw or heard that car. He sometimes rode a big Harley Davidson which also made a statement. Many of us would not have passed Matrix Algebra our senior year if he hadn´t been such a good tutor. As I remember, he was very interested in design and architecture. He talked about his inspiration from the works of Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright. Not surprising that he followed that path in college. From his biography, it sounds like he saw much of the world, either through military travel or his work. After a life well lived, rest well my Scottish friend. You will be missed.

It´s been 50 odd years since Stew and I, our professor, Robert Schultz, and my friend, Nancy Blakesley, left Italy for the Riviera en route to Barcelona. It was winter break 1971, Notre Dame Architecture program, encompassing a full academic year in Roma, Italia. Stew was in rare form and we bantered back and forth re. the good-natured(?) rivalry between Jeff and CC, where I went. At one point Stew was driving near Portofino and nearly drove us off a cliff-side road into the mare below. I think he was auditioning for his future life as a pilot. He is surely flying now, somewhere, somehow, not to watery depths, but to heavens above. Now, whenever I drive a narrow road, I think of Stew, the life he lived, those he loved and who loved him.
