Charles F. Greve, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 19, 2025.

Born on April 30, 1947, in Indianapolis, Charlie was the beloved son of the late Herman and Gayle (Carrico) Greve. A lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Charlie lived a robust life, where you could usually find him surrounded by family and friends

Charlie earned a Bachelor of Business degree from Indiana University and began his career in the purchasing department at St. Francis Hospital. He later joined the Community Hospital Network, where he rose to the position of Vice President of Supply Chain Management, retiring in 2010. Throughout his career, Charlie was known for his leadership, professionalism, and dedication to serving others through healthcare administration.

A passionate sports fan, Charlie never missed a chance to cheer for the Indiana Hoosiers or the New York Yankees. He enjoyed golfing, visiting the casino, and watching nearly any sporting event, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He loved watching his grandchildren compete in sports and proudly coached his own children's teams when they were younger-always a steady and supportive presence.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Susie (Long) Greve; daughter, Staci Greve and her children, Samuel Sherck and Katherine Sherck; son, Michael (Heather) Greve and their children, Alexandria Greve and Max Greve; step daughter, Andrea (Matthew) Ballard and their children, Hannah, Sarah, Charlie, and Grace Ballard. He is also survived by his sister, Linda (Jim) Dailey; brother, Bob (Susan) Greve; and sister, Jeanie (Mike) Proctor. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael W. Greve.

A memorial service honoring Charlie's life will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory, share stories, and celebrate a life well lived from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

A gathering will take place following the service starting at 6:00 p.m. at The Barn at Bay Horse Inn, 1468 W. Stones Crossing Road, Greenwood, Indiana 46143.

Charlie will be deeply missed by all who knew him and lovingly remembered for his loyalty, warmth, and devotion to his family.

The family invites those who knew Charlie to share their memories, photographs, and condolences online.

Charles was a remarkable person that I was lucky to spend a lot of time with during our youth-we hung out as teens and roomed together in college-I would probably have never graduated if not for him-a great role model and supportive friend-wishing him a smooth transition into his next level of awareness-

Although Charlie was 8 years older than me (and brother Mike, 11 yrs. older), he was always willing to help me with questions about life and later - career. The first critical advice he gave me, when I was in 6th grade - "Rob, don´t wear your striped surfer shirt with plaid shorts", followed by - "white socks are OUT". A few years later, while I obsessed over being "short", he said don´t worry about it - and then as a sophomore in HS, when I hit my growth spurt, he told people that he was certain that I had willed myself to grow. After college, and not fully committed to continue teaching HS, he connected me with one of his suppliers - starting me off on a very rewarding 45 year career in sales. He also was there, to advise me, at mid-career decisions - always offering thoughtful ideas and brotherly support. My only regret is not getting him out for a road trip, it would have been so much fun.

Condolences To the family. My fondest memories of Charlie was always summertime swimming at Uncle Herman & Aunt Gayle´s swimming pool. He actually saved my life when I was five years old. I had fallen into the pool and he jumped in and pulled me out. You will be missed cousin. I wished we hadn´t drifted apart as we got older. You rest in heaven and give everyone a big hug for me.
