Eric Whitlow Obituary

Eric Tyler Whitlow, 27, of Martinsville, passed away on August 25, 2025. He was born on May 17, 1998, in Greenwood, Indiana.

Eric was absolutely the best kid with the kindest heart we've ever seen. He was always very giving and was always putting others first. He's the kid that would give you the shirt off his back.

He enjoyed playing games with his best friend Chase and in his gaming groups he enjoyed Bible studies, sharing the Word of God to others, and bringing them to Christ! He loved playing guitar. He often played guitar with his brother Aaron & his dad in the living room. His favorite song to play was a worship song called "Good, Good Father", and he loved listening to music of any kind and could usually tell us the song that was being played on the radio no matter what station it was on. He was proud when Aaron brought Becca home. He was going to have a sister-in-law & he knew she was the perfect fit. He would always come to us to show us his latest gadgets or a computer he built or a phone or something he would fix (usually doing it for someone else). He loved being an uncle to his little nephew and niece Noah & Isla. Bonding with Noah over tech and making Isla giggle over his silliness. He loved visiting his sister Megan and brother-in-law Quinton. He looked up to them. He loved spending time with them whenever he could. He loved going outdoors but didn't like the bugs at all he always said (which is just like his Dad). He loved different kinds of flavored teas and drinks (which he would almost always bring one home to Mom).

He loved his family most of all and looked forward to our weekly family night on Friday nights, where we all got together and played games or just hung out and talked with my brother Rob and his wife Jenny, and Eric's cousins (Josh, Ashley, & Justin). He loved BMX and would send us videos of it often, amazed by the freestyle tricks or skateboard videos. He loved visiting his Papa John, Mamaw Brenda, Aunt Tina, and Cousin Brandon. Riding four-wheelers, dirt bikes, talking cars, and loved eating Skyline Chili with them. He said it was his favorite.

When he was little, we called him the "cheeser" because he cheesed his smile in every picture. He would always have a little sideways smile. His smile just made you feel happy and loved.

He is survived by his parents, Scott and Tanya Whitlow; his brother, Aaron Whitlow & Becca Whitlow, his sister Megan & Quinton Tibbot, his brother Caleb Whitlow, his grandparents John & Brenda Byford. He was preceded in death by his Nana & Papa (whom he loved so very much), Rev. Donald R. Whitlow & Laverne Whitlow, and his Aunt, Jessica Byford.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the service time at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025, at G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1605 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana 46143. Eric will be laid to rest at The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery.

Eric was known for not liking to dress up. He preferred tees and flannels on all occasions. The family has asked that everyone who can come dressed comfortably, in jeans, t-shirts, and flannels, to honor Eric.

The family is in need of assistance. The GoFundMe page can be found here:
