Layn Scott Brady

Layn Scott Brady, known fondly as "Scotty" by his loved ones, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024. Born on May 9, 1968, in Corning, NY, Scott spent 56 joyful years in his beloved hometown of Painted Post, NY. Known for his funny and resilient spirit, Scott was a pillar of strength and reliability in his community amongst his family and friends. He was a man who stood by his word and commitments.
Scott was a hardworking mechanical tradesman for Corning IDM, always taking pride in his work. Yet, despite his professional accomplishments, what mattered most to Scott was his family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most of all gardening with his wife, Karen, and sharing his harvest with friends and family.
He was a compassionate husband to his wife of 19 years, Karen Brady, and a devoted father to his children, Eric Horton and Rachael Horton. His parents, Thomas (Linda) Brady and Margaret Holton, along with his siblings, Doreen (Roy) Burdick, Tom (Kristie) Brady, and Kimberly (Michael) Mulaski, and in-laws Sharon (Rich) Matwiejow, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much, will remember Scott for his unwavering love and support. Scott's resilience and strength will continue to inspire and live on in their hearts.
Scott was preceded in death by his stepfather, John "Jack" Holton; grandparents, Donald and Margaret Ordway, Ralph Reed, Donald and Ruth Brady, and Leo and Bertha Mcchesney; and his in-laws, Patricia Holton, Debbie Holton, and Mike Holton.
A special thank you to his niece, Ashley Matwiejow for caring and being with him in his final moments.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. 1st Street, Corning, NY, where a Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 pm with Pastor Vaughn VanSkiver officiating. Burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Painted Post on Saturday, August 31st at 10:00 am.
