LC Caldwell, 71, of Canton, passed away on June 11, 2025 at Mission Hospital.
Born, January 26, 1954, LC was the son of the late Lush Caldwell and Maggie Luv Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Riley Caldwell, Walter Caldwell, Bertha Sutton, Dorothy Messer, and Irene Sutton.
LC was the last Caldwell child to be raised in Cataloochee Valley. He was the youngest of nine and was considered the "Baby". LC loved his wild untamed Cataloochee, and as a child he spent most of his time hunting, fishing and helping his brother's farm the fields of Cataloochee. As an adult LC continued to be an avid bear hunter and fisherman here in the mountains. LC was fortunate enough to take many exciting bear hunting trips to Michigan, Maine, and the Coast of NC.He loved hunting with brothers, nephews, cousins and close friends, and was often the first hunter to the tree! LC also loved to camp and ride horses on trails deep in the Smokey Mountains. LC worked as a heavy equipment operator and owned his own logging company. He was known to be one of the finest bulldozer operators in the county. LC was a quiet, good hearted and kind man that loved his family and was a live in caretaker to his "Mommy" that lived to be almost 90 years old.
Left to cherish LC's memory are his brother, Stokey Caldwell (Geraldine); sisters, Sally Messer (Buck) and Nettie Hannah; long time companion, Katherine; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A celebration of LC's life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 1:30 pm at Smoky Mountain Cremations and Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 prior to the service. A private burial will be held at a later date.
