LCDR Grant Pollock, USN (Ret), passed away on May 3, 2025. He was born on January 22,1931 to the late Alice P. Hogan and Henry R. Pollock in Brooklyn, NY, and is predeceased by his loving wife, Agnes J. (Chisholm) Pollock and his younger sister Arlene L. (Pollock) Kenney.
Grant enlisted in the US Navy following High School Graduation in 1951; during his career he was a Korean and Vietnam Veteran, in between he was selected for Officers Candidate School and became a Commissioned Officer. He served many land and sea deployments before retiring the US Navy from the USS Shenandoah (AD26) in 1978.
After his military retirement he worked as a Government Contractor with Atlantic Ordinance in Quality Control. He was a wood worker with Bruner Cabinet, then an Insurance Agent with Olson Insurance, and finally he retired. He was an active member and leader of the Virginia Beach Chapter of the Military Order of World Wars, A Lifetime Member of VFW Post 392, Quilts of Valor Honoree, Honor
Flight Honoree, loved animals and in his day bowling and fishing.
Grant is survived by his children, Sandra L. A. (Hardy) Pfohl and her husband Jack of Marcellus, NY, Robin M. (Pollock) Meyers and her husband Franco of Chesapeake, VA, and Mark G. Pollock and his wife Karen E. (Stevens) of Virginia Beach, 6 grandchildren. 5 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces & nephews, all whom he loved dearly.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at 6:00 pm with Military Honors at 7:00 pm at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel.
