Leah Suzanne Roach of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away from this life on October 19, 2022, at the age of 75. Leah was born in Santa Clara, California, on November 28, 1946, the daughter of Lee Roy Roach Sr. and Betty Elizabeth (Van Horn) Thacker.
She grew up in California and attended James Lick High School, graduating with the Class of 1964. Leah went on to become a Social Worker, a career she thoroughly enjoyed until her retirement in 2005. She truly enjoyed making a difference in people's lives with her work. Leah appreciated honesty and was always willing to help anyone out – as long as they were honest with her.
2005 was a big year for Leah. After her retirement, she moved to Oklahoma to be closer to her family and to witness the birth of her first great-grandchild. Family was everything to Leah, and she enjoyed nothing more than time spent with those she loved.
Described as a "second Mom to everyone", Leah never met a stranger. She was simply loved by everyone. Most people were automatically drawn to her fun-loving, adventurous spirit, her wonderfully goofy sense of humor, and her sassy – sometimes stubborn – personality. She was the kind of lady who preferred to eat dessert first, and the kind of mom who, when her children were prank-pulling teenagers, would offer to drive them to TP their friends' houses. She loved a good deal on anything, and you could often find Leah browsing garage sales, bargain bins, and swap meets, always with the mindset, "If one is good, ten is better." She had a massive collection of silly hats of all shapes and sizes, including many oversized top hats and over 100 Christmas-themed hats.
Leah's adventurous spirit continued throughout her life, and at the age of 62, she tried zip lining while on a family trip to Honduras. She loved traveling and taking cruises with her friends and family, cherishing the beautiful memories made on her adventures. More than anything in life, Leah adored her family and loved to spoil the family dogs with too many treats. She loved hosting family game nights and enjoyed the times when her entire family could be together. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many. Leah will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lee R. Roach, her mother, Betty E. Thacker, two brothers, Lee Roy Roach Jr., and Lawrence R. Roach, and one sister, Laura D. Martinez.
Left to treasure her memory are two children, son Leon Visnaw Jr. and his wife, Melodie, and daughter Linette Roberts and her husband, Robert; four grandchildren, Jaimee Lee and partner Randy, Todd J. Lee Jr., Tyler Roberts and wife Lexi, and Michael Roberts and partner Aubry; along with fifteen great-grandchildren, Melissa Puckett, Cayden Lee, Raylan Pierce, Zayne Abbe, Addison Abbe, Randy Abbe Jr., Tyler Abbe, Landon Roberts, Aven Lee, Braiden Brinson, and Aria Roberts, Blane Roberts, Vernon Roberts, Sicily Belvin, and Adeline Belvin, as well as a host of loving extended family and many dear friends.
Family and friends are welcome to come visit and share memories. Reception to follow the service at the Fireside Room at Fresh Start Community Church, located at 309 N. Eastern Ave. in Moore, Oklahoma, across from Moore High School.
