The family of Mother Lealie B. Scoggins gratefully acknowledges all expressions of sympathy shown during their time of bereavement and loss. Mad God continue to richly bless each of you.
Mother Lealie Scoggins, age 98, of Roxboro, NC, departed this life, Thursday, July 7, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Person County April 4, 1924 to the late Henry and Ella Stanfield Bradsher and was a member of the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ in Timberlake.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James G. Scoggins; a daughter, Linda Stevens; five sons: Henry Scoggins, Clyde Scoggins, Ellis Scoggins, Sandy Scoggins and Joel Scoggins; two sisters: Myrtle Torain and Mother Ruth Newman; and a brother, Joe Bradsher.
She is survived by seven children: Aliean Scoggins and Gladys Woods, both of Roxboro, Mary Ann Paylor of Washington, DC, Nancy Cash, Edgar Jerry Scoggins and Sylvia Brown (Charles), all of Roxboro and Stella Williams of Louisburg, NC; five generations of grandchildren: great, great-great, great-great-great and great-great-great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Willie Myrtle Scoggins; three adopted daughters; many children that she raised; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 2:00pm at Westwood Baptist Church, 970 Leasburg Road, Roxboro, NC 27573, with Elder Terry Scoggins, Pastor of Holy Temple of Jesus Christ in Timberlake, NC, providing the eulogy, and Elder Tony Dixon, Associate Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, 3843 Antioch Church Road, Timberlake, NC 27583.
Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 6:00pm with the family present during the last hour from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
At other times, the family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 146 Cleveland Lane, Roxboro, NC 27573.
Face masks and social distancing are encouraged and strongly advised.
