Leeland Ray Scoggins, a cherished father, brother, and friend, passed away on August 22, 2025, in Winter Haven, Florida, at the age of 68. Born on July 24, 1957, in Columbus, Indiana, Ray lived a life that was as vibrant and colorful as the many stories he had to tell.
Ray was the beloved son of David and Darlene Scoggins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Scoggins, who surely greeted him with open arms as he embarked on this final journey. Ray leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, survived by his devoted daughter, Sylvia Campos, and his loving sisters: Felicia Tucker, Rosanne Harris, and Cindy Copas. He was a proud grandfather to his granddaughters, Clarissa Roberts and Katelynn Wheeldon, who were his joy and pride.
Throughout his life, Ray was known for his extraordinary talent in auto repair. His skills as a collision repair expert were unmatched, earning him recognition in industry magazines. He was not just a mechanic; he was an artist in his field, breathing new life into vehicles and helping countless people get back on the road. His passion for his work was evident to all who knew him, and he took immense pride in every project he undertook.
Ray's personality was as dynamic as his career. He lived a wild and colorful life, filled with adventures, laughter, and a spirit that could light up any room. His stories, infused with his unique sense of humor and perspective, will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had an uncanny ability to connect with anyone, leaving a lasting impression on their hearts.
Family was central to Ray's life, and he nurtured close relationships with his ex-wives, Jeannette Cutler and Tonja Weber, reflecting his commitment to family despite life's complexities. His love extended beyond boundaries, showing that family is not solely defined by marriage but by the bonds we create and cherish.
As we remember Leeland Ray Scoggins, let us celebrate his life, his passions, and his unwavering love for his family. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
