Bruce Anthony Durante

Bruce Anthony Durante, 71, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 15, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York to Frank and Jean Durante.

Bruce loved a good laugh and had a talent for saying exactly what he shouldn't. His inappropriate jokes and sarcastic comments often had everyone shaking their heads-but laughing anyway. He carried that mischievous, young-at-heart spirit with him his whole life. Sports were always a big part of his life, from baseball and football to his love of NASCAR. It was through a game of softball that he met the love of his life, Judy, and together they celebrated 41 years of marriage this past March. He also loved to go fishing in his free time. He spent more than four decades on the road as a truck driver and took great pride in his work, especially the skill it took to back a trailer into the toughest of spots. At home, Bruce loved his dogs and found comfort in their company. He was also an incredible cook, and his Italian heritage came through in the meals he cooked. Above all else, Bruce loved his family more than anything in the world. If you asked him what truly kept him going, especially on the hard days, he'd say his grandchildren. He fought with all his strength to stay, holding on for every precious moment and creating as many memories with them as he possibly could.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Alex and his wife Sara, Bruce and his wife Jennifer, Michael, and Heather; his 10 grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A service to honor Bruce's life will be held at Lakeland Funeral Home on September 4, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the service following at 11:00 a.m., and burial immediately afterward. Friends and family are invited to come together, celebrate his life, and share their favorite memories of him.

Bruce's life was defined by strength, laughter, and family. At last he can inhale deeply, exhale fully, and rest in the peace of heaven. He will always hold a special place in our hearts.
