Leanne Drew, 63, of LaGrange, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was born a twin on October 8, 1961, in LaGrange, to Mark L. and Myrna R. (Hickman) Peterman.
Leanne dedicated over 30 years of her life to education, serving as both a teacher and an instructional coach with the Angola School Corporation before joining Fort Wayne Community Schools. She later taught with the Lakeland School Corporation before retiring in 2022. She was respected and admired for her passion for teaching, her creativity, and her ability to inspire both students and colleagues alike.
Beyond her career, Leanne was known for her deep love of family and her zest for life. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness. She was a naturally artistic and creative spirit and had a talent for finding beauty in everyday life. A sports enthusiast, she was an avid fan of the Indiana Fever and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Surviving Leanne are her children, Jessica (Roland) Valenzuela of Huntertown, IN, and Tyler (Chelsea) Drew of Huntington, IN; her father, Mark L. Peterman of LaGrange; her twin sister, Lynne Peterman of LaGrange; her brother, Ken A. Peterman of Fort Wayne; four beloved grandchildren, Alaina Drew, Isaiah Drew, Alonzo Valenzuela, and Briggs Valenzuela; and her companion, Bruce Haire of Wolcottville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrna R. Peterman, on April 19, 2023, and a brother, Micheal Lee Peterman, on December 19, 1979.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan Street, LaGrange, IN 46761. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
