Mr. Lee Arthur Burgess, age 76 and husband of Maggie Burgess of fifty-seven years, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at his Columbia, Tennessee residence.
Lee was born on April 8, 1948, to the late John and Dorothy Burgess. Lee proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. Lee embodied the heart of a servant as he served his community in numerous ways including; helping with the Boy Scouts, working with the United Way, American Red Cross, and he was a proud union member at General Motors. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his children and grandchildren playing. He had a special bond with his sisters, they loved taking care of one another. He was a member of Maury Hills Church. Lee will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife Maggie, he is survived by his son, Christopher Lee (Hayley) Burgess, daughter, Tiffany Lee (Jeff) Duncan, sisters, Laurie (Michael) Osborn, Susie (Michael) Shaver, Pattie Sturgill, Michelle (Ken) Lauer, grandchildren, Chase Duncan, Abigail Burgess, Max Duncan, and Zacharias Burgess, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James Burgess.
A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Heritage Funeral Home, with Russ Adcox officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross.
