Lee Heeley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Oct. 31, 2023.
Lee S. Heeley, age 70, a longtime resident of Naperville, IL, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023 at his home.
Lee is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 48 years, Sandy (nee Springborn), who he met in 1974 and married March 1st, 1975. They had four children, Jason Heeley of Lisle, Kelli Heeley of Naperville, Steven (Stefny) Heeley, and Casey (Kurt) Siegmeyer of Naperville; his grandchildren, Jack Heeley, Maizie and Otto Siegmeyer, Daphne, Gwen and Josie Heeley; as well as his four-legged, furry companion, Stewie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stewart and Lorraine Heeley, his in-laws, Del and Mary Springborn and his faithful golden retriever, Bob.
Lee was born in Easton, PA on January 4, 1953 and was fortunate enough to live in many different states, as his dad worked for Dixie (American Can) including Boundbrook, NJ, Singac, NJ, Omaha, NE, Lexington, KY, Pinebrook, NJ and Middleburg Heights, OH.
Lee moved to Naperville with his family in 1969. He started at NCHS his junior year and graduated with the class of 1971. Lee had a love for muscle cars and owned several himself over the years.
Lee's first job was working for Parkview Pizza while in high school. He also delivered Charles Chips. He was then employed by the US Postal Service and drove a limo with Naperville Chauffeuring. His favorite job was as Purchasing Director at a computer business where he met his poker buddies. They have been playing poker together for over 25 years. His love for the outdoors and gardening took him to a position at Morton Arboretum and then the City of Naperville with the mosquito abatement. Lee was a good friend to many and had a lot of memories to share with a touch of sarcasm and a dry sense of humor to follow. If anyone needed help, he would be sure to let them know he could help them out "the second Tuesday of next week".
For a few years in the late 90's and early 2000's Lee's dream of owning his own company came true when he started Captemo with the help of his family.
Upon retirement, Lee rediscovered his love of Lego's with his grandkids and built several sets for them to enjoy with him. He enjoyed the outdoors and woodworking. He was very proud of designing his home and building the majority of it himself. You could always find him outside on his shed deck working on something in his signature jeans and flannel. During the winter months, Lee could be found working inside on a puzzle or tending to his fireplace.
Lee will be remembered and missed by so many hearts that he touched over the years. His wife, kids, grandkids and Stewie were his entire world.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 16, 4:00-8:00 PM at the Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 17, 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Naperville.
