Lee Brent Jacobsen, 73, of Amarillo, TX, passed away September 2, 2025.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount. Inurnment will be at 2:30 PM, at West Park Cemetery in Hereford, TX. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Lee was born October 3, 1951 in Mobile, AL to Barry Jacobsen and Etoile Sirman. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1971 and attended Amarillo College, where he graduated with an associates degree.
Lee worked at Asarco Copper Refinery for 37 years as a maintenance mechanic. He was an active member of the U.S.W Local 5613, serving as a grievance spokesman and advocate for employees and their families.
He was elected as Treasurer in 1997 and continued that role for 15 years. He also volunteered on Asarco’s fire and rescue team.
Lee had many hobbies, but a love of trains was his favorite. He had been building and maintaining an elaborate train station.
Lee married the love of his life, Maria Espinoza, on January 19, 1991. They enjoyed 34 years of love and friendship.
He was known for his dedication, integrity, fairness, compassion and resilience. He left a lasting impact on his family, friends and those he served and worked alongside.
He is preceded in death by his parents Barry and Etolie Jacobsen, Glenna Jacobsen, sister Jan Cox and grandson Aarick Brown.
Lee is survived by his wife, Maria Jacobsen of Amarillo; his children Mechele Jacobsen, Amy Johnson (Stan) of Canyon, Susan Sebastian (Matt) of Fountain, CO, Robert Fitzsimmons (Cherrie) of Amarillo and Stacy Antonucci (Dante) of Midland; grandchildren Aaron, Kathryn, Kaitlin, Derek, Lee, Hannah, Kaysea, Damien, Ethan, Malaire, Jalen, Kennedy, Brennan and Deven; great-grandchildren Anberlin, Elida, Alice, Liam, Olivia, Zendrix and Zachary.
