Percy Reid, 90, of Amarillo,Tx., went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2025. He was born on October 10, 1934.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 10 am in the Worship Center of Second Baptist Church, 419 N Buchanan St. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery with Military Honors by Amarillo Volleys for Veterans.
Percy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maxene “Mackie” Reid, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion.
He dedicated his career to the electrical contracting trade, founding American Electric, which he successfully operated for more than 30 years. Percy took great pride in his work and built a reputation for excellence and integrity within his community.
A man of deep faith, Percy was a long-time member and deacon at Second Baptist Church, where he served faithfully and touched many lives with his kindness and steadfast spirit. He loved spending time at his cabin in Idlewild, NM where he enjoyed building, tinkering, and working with his hands. He also cherished playing the domino game “42” with his church friends, where fellowship and laughter were always guaranteed.
One of Percy’s greatest joys was watching his grandchildren participate in their many sports and activities. No matter where the games or events were held, PaPa and Mackie/MacMac were always there to cheer them on, offering their love and support.
Percy’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children: Diesta and her husband Peter Kuhn, Gordon and his wife Joyce Reid, Cinna and her husband David Splawn, and Galen and his wife Shelley Reid.
He was a proud grandfather to Reid Splawn, Joshua Splawn, Reagan Reid, and Colin Reid, and a great-grandfather to Robin Maxene Splawn.
Percy will be remembered for his strong faith, dedication to his family, love of hard work, and the joy he found in simple pleasures—his cabin, his friends, his church, and the pride he took in his children and grandchildren. His legacy of love and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family extends a special thank-you to his nurse Madeline and the compassionate staff at Sagecreek for their loving care and support.
