Lee Granger Mattice Jr., passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, at the age of 92 in Lansing, Michigan. Lee was born on September 4, 1932, to Lee Granger Mattice Sr and Vivian (Connor) Mattice with 7 siblings including Delores Corbin, Barbara Fraser, Diane Bartlett, Judi Liscombe (deceased), Sharon Hinson, Lois Bedo, and Dennis Mattice.
Lee was a man of great character and spirit. His love and dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was the loving husband of Rosemary Cronin Mattice, with whom he shared 45+ years of marriage. Together, they combined a beautiful family which includes their children Deborah Robinson, Elizabeth Mattice, David Mattice, Susan Foreman, Lee Granger Mattice III, Thomas Cronin Jr and Jeff Cronin. He proudly grandfathered 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren (one on the way), and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Lee was predeceased by his parents, his sons Lee Mattice III and Thomas Cronin Jr, daughter Elizabeth Mattice, and grandson Theron Mattice. Those who were close to Lee knew him for his meticulous attention to detail and high expectations which laid foundations for his family's later successes.
In high school he worked in construction with his father learning craftsmanship. He considered "Bumpa" responsible for teaching him how to love and care tenderly as a father. Lee earned accolades educationally and in the workforce. He led a successful career as an administrator with the State of Michigan, in Civil Service, where he was tasked with many projects given his consistent and thorough follow through. It was there he met the love of his life, Rosemary. Ultimately, Lee was a devoted husband who left behind the woman whom he said he loved more than anything on this Earth. We should remember him as a proud providing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whom will continue to inspire generations to come.
No services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of Lee Mattice Jr. to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
