Lee Wilhelm Obituary

Lee Gregg Ange Wilhelm, 78, of Raleigh, formerly of Wilson, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. A service of death and resurrection will be held at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Wilson on Wednesday, February 11 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception at the church to follow.

Lee was born in Versailles, Kentucky and raised in Wilson and Versailles. She graduated high school from Margaret Hall School, an Episcopal Girl's School, in Versailles at age 16. She attended Converse College and then graduated Cum Laude from Barton College at age 20.

After college and living in Washington D.C. working for Senator John Cooper, she later moved to Wilson. As a cradle Episcopalian, Lee loved the Episcopal Church and especially St. Timothy's Church. As a member there, she served on the Altar Guild and she, along with her husband, Dan, spent many years with St. Timothy's Outreach Commission helping raise funds for community programs and needs.

Lee is predeceased by her first husband Robert "Bob" Ange, later her husband Daniel "Dan" Wilhelm; her parents, Marcella and Thomas Miller, and John Gregg; her grandparents, Mildred and A.B. "Happy" Chandler, with whom she spent much joyous time throughout her life; and her sister Catherine Vick. She is survived by her son Robert Lee Ange, Jr. (Kristen), and grandchildren, Courtney, Watkins and Calvin Ange of Raleigh. Also survived by a stepdaughter, Catherine Ange of Atlanta, Georgia; a stepson David Wilhelm (Leigh) of Wilson; her sister Marcella Dillard (Bill) of Savannah; and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you is extended to her caregiver and friend, Maggie White, as well as Dr. Scott Smith and his staff at the Duke Raleigh Cancer Center, and all the other caregivers who helped with their loving care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 1527, Wilson, NC 27894, St. Jude's Hospital, or an animal rescue of one's choice.
