Dr. Leelyn Merritt Troop
Of Erial, NJ, passed away on December 27, 2022. He was 77 years old. Beloved husband of Georgia J. Troop (nee Cutler). Devoted son of the late Alexander and Almira Troop. Dear brother of Phyllis Heinly and brother-in-law of James Cutler. Also survived by his loving niece Kathy Mason. Dr. Troop grew up in Erial and attended Triton High School before transferring to Friends Select School in Philadelphia. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Temple University, two Master's Degrees from Glassboro State College and his Doctorate in Reading Psychology from Temple University in 1991. He spent much of his career teaching high school English in the Lower Camden County Regional High School District, but retired from the district as Supervisor of Instruction. He taught adult evening school courses and also taught courses at Camden County College. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. Leelyn was a drummer in a local band during much of his adult life, and later started his own band, We Three Plus One, playing at weddings, birthdays and other events. Family and friends are invited to the visitation 11am-12noon and to his Memorial Service at 12noon on Wednesday, January 4 at BRADLEY FUNERAL HOME, 601 NJ 73 South (at Evesham Rd.), Marlton, NJ. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the charity of your choice.
