Lela Mae Conrod

Lela Mae Conrod - was the first born to June and Mary Marie Conrod on January 16, 1928, in Moorehead, Mississippi. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age, becoming a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church, in Moorehead, Mississippi under the direction of the late Reverend Henry Ewing. The mid-50's she was married to Ben Smith and 1 child, Gladys was born to this union, she then settled in St. Louis, Missouri, and, raised her five children, and professed her faith as a member of Jerusalem M.B. Church under the direction of the late Reverend James A. Morgan. Lela was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, caring individual to all her family, friends, and all that came in contact with her. Hardworking single mom; that devoted all of her time and everything her true heart could fulfill to each and every one of her children. There was no one child more precious than the other, for she surely knew that none would ever be put before her love for God who was always first and foremost in her life! Lela departed this life on March 1, 2011 at 4:00 a.m. in Delmar Gardens of Creve Coeur. Her parents June Conrod and Mary Marie Conrod preceded her in death, a most beloved God fearing brother, Tom Earven Conrod; sisters, Dortha White and Mable who also preceded her in death; she leaves to cherish her precious memories; her five children, June Conrod, Anne Marie (Mary L. Conrod), Gladys M. Conrod-Cavitt, Bobbie A. Conrod, James O. Conrod all of St. Louis, MO; 10 grandchildren, Chastity, Jeffrey Jr., Joshua, Jerome Jr., Ciara, Quiana, Jasmine, James Jr., Moreno and Tiffany; 8 great-grandchildren, Alexis, James III, Jayvan, Jada, Taniya, Tre'von, Morina and Mackenzie; her siblings, Sarah, Earnest, Christine, Pete, Betty, Earnestine, Leola, and a dear sister-in-law, Ruby M. Trotter-Conrod; a true and loyal dear friend who has been there to the end, Irma Holmon; and a host of other relatives, friends and the entire Jerusalem M.B.
