Lela Mae Ferguson, born on March 13, 1947, in Guilford County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on October 27, 2025, in Alamance County, North Carolina.

Lela was a devoted and loving individual who lived a life full of passion and dedication. She spent her early career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Wesley Long Hospital, where she provided care and comfort to countless patients. After her time in nursing, she pursued her creative side as a talented hairdresser, before ultimately dedicating herself to the role of Homemaker, which she cherished deeply.

Throughout her life, Lela found joy in the simple pleasures. She loved spending time with her beloved husband, Larry Ferguson, with whom she shared many happy years until his passing. The family vacations to Holden Beach were among her most treasured memories, where the sun, sand, and sea brought her immense happiness. An enthusiastic angler, she found peace and satisfaction in fishing, a pastime that connected her to nature and provided many moments of reflection.

Preceded in death by her dear husband Larry, Lela leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth that will be cherished by those who survive her: her two daughters, Lisa Dawley of Pleasant Garden, and Michelle Bailey, along with her husband Jesse, of Liberty. Her grandchildren, Christopher May, Brandon Dawley, and Brittney Dawley Hull, hold fond memories of their grandmother close to their hearts. Her great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Hull, Bradley Hull, and Christopher May, Jr., will carry forward the loving spirit of their great-grandmother.

In accordance with her wishes, Lela's family will celebrate her life privately, honoring the quiet strength and grace with which she lived. Her memory will forever remain a beacon of love and resilience in the hearts of those who knew her.
