Mrs. Lelabelle Baier, age 103 of Rutherford, Tennessee, passed peacefully from this life on June 26, 2024, at Greenbrier Meadows in Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Baier will be conducted on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 2PM in the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Jetton officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford Cemetery.
She was born May 15, 1921, in the China Grove Community; the daughter of the late Rowan Bridges & Annie (Couch) Scruggs. Mrs. Baier graduated from UT of Martin, and UT of Knoxville. She taught at the Gibson County School System with 34 years of dedication, before her retirement. Lelabelle was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, the Teachers Society, and the Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Rutherford Methodist Church before its closing.
Mrs. Baier is survived by son, Ted Baier and daughter-in-law, Sue; three grandchildren, Craig Baier, Steve (Susan) Baier, Brent (Tiffany) Baier; and four great-grandchildren, Kayla and husband, Jamie, Hunter, Katie, and William. She was preceded in death by loving husband, Fred Baier Jr.
The family will receive friends from 11AM-2PM on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the Rutherford chapel of Karnes & Son Funeral Home. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Lelabelle Baier.
