Leland Erik Jones, 46, of Bozrah, CT, born in Norwich, CT on November 10th, 1978, passed away peacefully at home from unexpected heart complications on February 4th, 2025.
He grew up in Taftville and lived in Bozrah for about 17 years. He worked for Coit Excavating Inc. for 19 years as a Truck Driver/Equipment Operator, doing what he loved. There he drove a tri-axle dump truck and a low bed to move machines. He was also a member of the Bozrah Moose Lodge for many years.
Leland was mechanically inclined from a young age and had a passion for basically anything unique on wheels. He would often get stopped by strangers asking about and commenting on the uncommon vehicles he was driving. In his spare time, he was often tinkering on his latest project.
He was such a kind and caring soul, always willing to help out others when needed. He had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was a joy to be around and was loved and adored by those whose lives he came in contact with. His short time here was a lesson in kindness, altruism, and a playful love of life.
Leland is predeceased by his father Edward I. Jones, Jr. and leaves behind his mother JoAnn Jones, sister Heather (Chris) Williams, daughter Sapphire Griffin and partner Clay Nolan, grandchildren Clayton and Grayson, long term partner Brenda Sautter, aunts and uncles Laurene (Tom) Shewan, Anthony Sylvester, Albert (Nancy) Sylvester, Bruce Jones and partner Deb Devries, great aunt Irene Toscano, numerous cousins, cherished friends and coworkers.
He will surely be a missed man in the little town of Bozrah.
"Shomer Shabbos!"
- from "The Big Lebowski", one of his favorites.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bozrah Moose Lodge on Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 1:00-4:00PM. If you would like to share any photos to be on display please email them to his sister Heather at [email protected]
