Leland Olson Obituary

Leland "Bud" Odin Olson of rural Roseau passed away peacefully at Roseau LifeCare Manor on Saturday, February 18, 2023. He was 87 years of age.
Leland was born to Odin and Ida (Kihlstadius) Olson on April 6, 1935, in Reine Township of Roseau County. Leland attended U-5 School near Pencer, MN through 8th grade. He shared many stories about his school years and was an avid storyteller. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping; thoroughly embracing the great outdoors. Leland logged in the woods for many years. He also farmed, built log-homes, and played in bands. He worked at Boise Cascade in International Falls, MN for 10 years and then later at Polaris Industries. Leland loved music, enjoyed dancing and played many musical instruments. He liked bird watching, deer scouting and playing cards with friends and family.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents, Odin and Ida; brother-in-law, Jack Schwartz; nephew, Jerry Schwartz; great-nephew, Julien Kittleson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marlys; his sister, Elaine Schwartz of International Falls, MN; six children by a previous marriage and their spouses; six grandchildren and their spouses; eight great-grandchildren; five step-children and their spouses; 12 grandchildren and their spouses; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
